Kemper's Academy of Martial Arts System

Welcome to Kemper’s Academy of Martial Arts System, or simply KAMAS. Our school is one of a select few that is certified by the American Karate Association (the oldest and most prestigious martial arts organization in the United States) as a certified martial arts school which is qualified to hold black belt programs. Our system teaches Americanized Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido as well as traditional Japanese Kobudo (or the art of ancient weaponry).

Quanjanim Laura Kemper began her martial arts career in the early 1990’s. She earned her first through fifth degree black belts under the U.S.D.T.K.A. system and was also certified through the AKA. Wanting to preserve the true nature of the martial arts she had learned, Quanjanim began her own system of martial arts—the Kemper’s Academy of Martial Arts System in the year 2006.

"Ms. Kemper is a 6th degree black belt certified by the American Karate Association. I have known her for about 20 years. She is very well versed in the teaching of the martial arts and particularly programs for Park Districts and Colleges.

Ms. Kemper has been recognized by the AKA for several years running as an Outstanding Instructor as well as an Outstanding Black Belt. She is a certified judge for the AKA and has judged at AKA events for 20 years."
